About
Valeria is the daughter of a retired adventurer and a dread vampire, her mother unaware of her wicked father's true nature, and the Count looking for a dhampir to fulfill his goals. Finding out about her husband's nature after Valeria was already born, her mother called upon her former party to defeat him. Fleeing their home, Valeria was raised in the small city of Zaranressa, training to become an apothecary, with the ultimate goal of hiding her true nature and live a normal life. However that plan was ruined the day a deadly plague struck the city she called home. Her vampiric heritage protecting her from the plague but not those she loves. After the loss of her mother Valeria threw herself into work, as she attempts to find a cure before this plague takes the love of her life as well.
In her travels she found herself upon a mysterious train that took her to the mystical land of Druskenvald, where she faced the horrors of this land in her continued search for a cure. However she died against a horrible raven demon, and forced to choose between finally resting or revenge on the world in the name of her beloved husband Caspian. Valeria choose to make a dark bargain with a fiendish presence, The Crimson Rose herself. Now she continues her hunt against this dark world, slowly turning into a vampire, the thing she truly hates most in this world as she fights the dark urges the transformation brings as she tries to return the light and find a cure for the plague that has destroyed her life. Finding herself questioning her morals and strength as she fights to defend her love, friends, and new home in Druskenvald despite the danger putting her in a near constant cycle of pain and death.
Fun Facts:
- Valeria is an expert in all things soups, and will fight passionately that the ocean is in fact a soup.
- Her familiars are a Goat stealer bundle of energy name Sanguine and a Crooked Hare fittingly named Crooks (mostly due to his personality of a 50 year old trucker)
- She has canonically gone through multiple inexplicable alternate timelines/loops and this does not help her constant tired attitude that would rival an ER nurse on the 14th hour of their shift.
Personality
Valeria has been through a lot of horrifying situations and have lost almost everything as her and her party continuously throw themselves on the line to save the land of Druskenvald, because of this her personality has shifted from the hopeful and good intentioned woman she started the campaign as. Today Valeria is beginning her villain arc as she decided that being good and resisting her ever growing vampiric impulses was only leading to further pain. So to accomplish her goals she has largely stopped caring for most people outside of those she cared for before her warlock pact. She is not intentionally cruel, but at times she comes off as detached and manipulative as she tries to navigate things logically and cares only for minimum harm to her goals overall. Whether that mean sacrificing herself or others.
